Entrance Scholarships
Overview
The University of Ottawa offers renewable entrance scholarships for international students from Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, and Bangladesh who enroll in eligible undergraduate programs taught in English. These scholarships provide significant tuition fee reductions starting from the fall 2024 term, rewarding academic excellence and supporting a diverse student community.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for these entrance scholarships, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of any African country or one of the specified countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, Bangladesh)
- Be newly admitted for the fall 2024 term or later in an eligible undergraduate English-taught program within the specified faculties
- Not enroll in the French Immersion stream
- Hold a valid study permit at the start of classes
- Be enrolled full-time
- Note: Canadian citizens with dual citizenship are not eligible as they already pay Canadian tuition rates

Scholarship Value and Renewal Conditions
The International English Entrance Scholarship is renewable for up to 12 installments, provided the student:
- Maintains full-time enrollment in the admitted undergraduate program
- Achieves a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 5.00 or higher at the end of each academic year
The scholarship amount remains at the original value indicated in the admission offer, even if the scholarship amount changes later.
Important Notes
- These scholarships specifically support international students studying in English-taught programs and do not apply to French Immersion streams.
- Additional Excellence scholarships may be awarded at the university’s discretion to outstanding students regardless of country of origin.
- Students should ensure they meet all eligibility criteria and maintain academic standards to continue receiving the scholarship benefits.
