Overview
The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Scholarship at George Brown Polytechnic offers eighteen awards annually to support international students excelling in the ESL program. This scholarship recognizes academic achievement and meaningful contributions to the college community, providing financial assistance to help students continue their studies.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the EAP Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a registered full-time international student in the English for Academic Purposes Program.
- Have completed at least one level of the EAP Program with a grade A average.
- Demonstrate active participation in activities benefiting other students, their academic department, or the broader College community.
- Not have previously received a scholarship through the George Brown Polytechnic International Centre.
Scholarship Value and Awards
- 18 scholarships available annually:
- 9 awards of $1,000 each in the August competition.
- 9 awards of $1,000 each in the January competition.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- A cover letter outlining their contributions to students, their department/school, or the College community. The letter should include:
- Start and end dates of the activity.
- Name of the organization involved.
- Number of hours per week dedicated.
- Specific details about the activity.
- A supporting letter from a George Brown Polytechnic staff member endorsing the application.
Deadlines and Notification
- August Competition: Application deadline is August 31st; recipients notified by September 30th.
- January Competition: Application deadline is January 31st; recipients notified by February 28th.
Selection Process
A committee representing various academic divisions at George Brown Polytechnic will review applications and select recipients. The committee’s decision is final and not subject to appeal. Only successful applicants will be notified.
